When it comes to getting high, how do you explain the experience to someone who’s never tried weed? Ask a seasoned stoner how many different ways cannabis can make you feel and they’ll tell you effects fall under a few umbrellas: energizing, uplifting, euphoric, relaxing, or sleepy.

OG Kush is the hybrid of all hybrids that swept California by storm in the 1990s and set the bar for many of the high-potency strains we smoke today. It has a flavor of earthy, sour, gassy, and skunky terpenes that we’ve come to identify as “kush,” which give way to an intense cerebral experience.

Energized: Green Crack

Green Crack is a prime example of a cannabis strain that usually adjusts a person’s knobs to an energizing experience. Bred way back in the 1970s, it’s a legendary sativa that tastes like earthy citrus terpenes and is great for daytime consumption. Its three most common terpenes are myrcene, pinene, and caryophyllene.

If you want something uplifting, Sour Diesel is held in high regard by the medical cannabis community for its mood-blasting abilities. It’s a potent sativa-dominant hybrid created by crossing Chemdog and Super Skunk. Sour Diesel’s sour and gassy terpene profile features caryophyllene, myrcene, and limonene.

Other euphoric stains include GSC and Wedding Cake.

Anyway, without further ado here are our picks for five of the strongest and highest-potency cannabis strains for 2021. There are a lot of high-THC strains out there in this day and age, but these are our personal favorites.

Well, after harvesting a crop you can “test” each individual plant specimen for its: A) flower (bud) production and B) THC content. This testing can be done in an actual HPLC laboratory where they chemically examine the THC levels , or (more commonly), can be done by smoking a sample of each plant’s flowers and seeing which one gets you higher.

1 – Godfather OG (The World’s Strongest Marijuana Strain?)

If you believe the annual reports from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, weed is getting stronger. Certainly, if you measure potency by THC content, marijuana is unquestionably becoming more potent. It was even noticeable when the average THC content of weed in 2003 was 6.4%, compared to just 0.72% in 1976.

If you smoke this strain with the belief that it will taste like Bailey’s, though, you’re in for a disappointment as it offers classic, dank weed flavors instead. You will find that this bud offers the taste of fresh herbs and pine, and while it doesn’t taste quite like the Sweet Cream strain, it is nonetheless a pleasant experience.

Godfather OG is cultivated by California Herbal Remedies (CHR) and is believed to be a cross of Cherry Pie, OG Kush , and Granddaddy Purps . With this information in hand, it is no surprise that Godfather OG is often referred to as the ‘Don of all Kush’ strains. Even a typical strain should have a THC of over 25%.
