Higher THC levels

This is the first group of varieties to produce superior bud featuring elevated cannabinoid levels without the need for intense light during set, consistent periods of time. Whether using artificial light or sunlight, care and attention was always required in matters of timing the plants’ exposure to it, and ensuring that the hours of darkness really were dark. Light pollution from even minor sources has been known to confuse their internal ‘clocks’ as to whether they are supposed to be vegetating or blooming.

The advantages of automatic cannabis seeds

This essential characteristic evolved as a necessity for survival in the harsh, inhospitable areas of central Russia where Cannabis Ruderalis, the original autoflowering strain that bred this almost magical ability, originated. Lacking the longer, warmer summers of the Indian continent or the tropical and equatorial zones where (respectively) Indica and Sativa evolved, their relative did not have the luxury of being able to wait for the change in light cycles that signal the beginning of summer to start flowering – the weather would become cold enough to kill the plants before pollination and seeding could take place. Instead, it had to begin flowering as soon as it was old enough in order to have enough time to complete the reproductive cycle and make new seeds. Breeders immediately saw the advantage of this for other strains, and began breeding seeds with this ability to ‘auto flower’.

Feminized autoflowering cannabis seeds are easy to cultivate: They flower without the need to change light cycles or remove males. Automatic seeds are ideal for new growers, and for those who want a low-maintenance growing experience. Sensi Seeds’ sativas, indicas and hybrids (high THC or high CBD) are ideal for medicinal and recreational cannabis users alike.

In addition, these strains are a great choice for gardeners in less warm climate areas who wish to grow on open ground, or on a balcony or window ledge, but find themselves restricted by short summers.

In terms of turnover, these seeds are capable of producing reasonably sized yields even with a less intense light source. However, the general rule that the greater the light intensity, the better the results, holds true here too. It should also be remembered that how much these types will give is governed by the final size of the plant – a windowsill crop of virtually dwarf cannabis is never going to produce as much as it would in large pots under high-intensity light. In general, however, the amount of bud eventually gleaned from seeds in this section is favourably comparable with that of regular or feminized seeds from the same variety.

The best of all worlds? Possibly. Autoflowering, feminized cannabis seeds will flower without a change in the life cycle and will result in nearly 100% female plants. Like any autoflowering seed strain, you should expect a slightly smaller harvest than a crop of the same strain grown from “regular” seeds. And of course, the convenience of autoflowering marijuana seeds make them a bit more pricey.

AK is a mostly Sativa cultivar provides an earthy, pungently sweet flavor and strong effects perfect for socializing with friends or getting outdoors and active. As mentioned before, AK can produce impressive yields of up to 1200g/m 2 when grown outdoors. Indoor yields are a bit less, topping out at 800g/m 2 .

Is it legal to ship marijuana seeds through the mail?

“Regular” seeds are non-feminized and non-autoflowering. You should expect half of your plants from these seeds to be male and dispose of them before they can pollinate your females. Pollinated females produce lower quality buds that are full of seeds. Regular seeds require a change in the light cycle to begin producing flowers. Through vegetation, cannabis plants are typically exposed to daily cycle of 18 hours of light followed by 6 hours of darkness (18-6). When developed enough to enter flowering, the grower will switch the light cycle to 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness (12-12) until harvest time.

People always wonder about the legal risk of purchasing cannabis seeds through the mail. Legitimate seed vendors (including those we recommend) ship discreetly to most locations. Seeds can be stopped by customs, but this doesn’t happen often.

As far as the best lighting schedule for autoflowering plants, growers have a great deal of flexibility to explore and experiment with different options without stressing out the auto flowers plant. Some growers choose to provide 24 hours of continuous light to the auto plants during vegetation phase to maximize growth. The downside of this approach is primarily the cost of lighting, but also that plants (like humans) seem to do better with at least a short period of darkness to rest and repair. Cannabis Plants typically experience healthy growth rates during the nighttime. Therefore consider 20 hours of light followed by 4 hours of darkness to give your plants (and your electric bill) a break. The autos will even flower on 24 hours of light (unlike photoperiod strains which require 12/12), but most autoflower seed cultivators will continue with the 20/4 or 18/6 cycle.

Seedling Stage – As small seedlings, you will observe the first 2 leaves develop, and then more height and branching will soon follow. This stage may realistically only last for a few days, up to a week depending on your lighting. The plants are very delicate during this early phase, so avoid doing anything to stress your auto plants at this time. When you buy reputable superior quality seeds from a trustworthy seedbank, the strong genetics should play a beneficial role in allowing your plants to survive into adulthood. Growers need not fertilize their newly transplanted seedlings, just make sure there is ample nitrogen in the growing medium from natural sources like manure and coffee grounds.

Drying and Curing – Undoubtedly one of the most appealing parts about growing autoflowering cannabis in the USA is that you can get a final product so quickly. With this said, be careful that you do not rush the final but most important step of growing auto strains. Growers must take their time drying in a ‘low and slow’ setting, so as to preserve the delicate flavors and aromas locked within the finished buds. No matter how premium the strain, smoking wet bud is going to always taste awful, like freshly cut grass. Plan to scatter your buds in a warm, dry, shaded area that has lots of fresh circulating air. This will prevent any mold on autoflower buds and preserve the cannabinoids. Most cannabis buds, including autoflowering varieties, can dry within one week, but superb benefits can be reached if growers allow an extended curing time, anywhere from four weeks to eight weeks.

DO – Try Growing Outdoors. Autoflowers can be ideal for indoor situations because of their small size, but do not deny yourself the pleasure and excitement of growing a USA auto strain in the great outdoors. You won’t have to tarp your greenhouse or move your plants inside every night to monitor the 12/12 light cycle, so this should free up a lot of time and reduce stress for existing outdoor cannabis growers.

Thanks to recent crossing and back-crossing, higher potency autoflower strains are now available under the category “super-autos.” These have higher cannabinoid content and are just as easy to grow as regular auto seeds.
