Why Grow Weed From Seeds From Herbies?
If you want to grow great pot, you should start with the best and most promising cannabis seeds money can buy. The genetics that we offer for sale are a delight for any smoker – but they’re also a pleasure to grow.
They have a high germination success rate, grow vigorously from the very start, and breeders have worked hard to make the flowering time of every strain as short as its genetics allow. Another feature that any grower will appreciate and many think is the most important is the ability to produce generous harvests. Luckily, modern weed varieties have been bred with high productivity in mind.
How To Start Growing Marijuana
With the cannabis seeds for sale at Herbies, growing high-yielding and potent marijuana is a breeze. Good cannabis genetics are the cornerstone of success. But this isn’t the only thing we provide. On our website’s blog, we feature dozens of articles on growing that will help set you on the path to becoming a master grower in no time.
A couple of evenings of cramming (while you wait for your order to arrive), and you’ll learn enough of the basics to set up your first indoor grow and know how to run it. And outdoor cultivation is even easier!
How Many Seeds Should I Buy To Start Growing?
You can have a successful grow with just one viable seed. Our suppliers have so much confidence in their product that they give you a germination guarantee close to 100%. If you decide to grow feminized seeds, each seed will translate into one plant yielding smokable buds. if you choose regular seeds instead, there will be a 50% chance of it turning to be male, and hence unusable for most growers.
You also need to remember that marijuana seeds are living things, and if you don’t have any prior experience, you may harm them. We therefore suggest that for every seed you plan to actually bring to harvest, you purchase another one, just in case. And in the unlikely event that the seeds don’t germinate, you can always reach out to our Quality Control team for reimbursement.
Laws Governing The Purchase Of Hemp Seeds
Each country has its own laws regarding cannabis, its use, possession, and cultivation. Some even prohibit cannabis seeds for sale altogether. Others allow the sale but prohibit germination. We can’t realistically list all the laws, so you’ll need to check your local regulations yourself.
Start with the laws regarding cultivation. If it’s allowed, there are always some limitations in place, e.g. the number of plants an individual can grow. Make sure you understand these limitations and adhere to them. This will also give you an idea of how many cannabis seeds you need to purchase from us.
You may also check if cannabis seeds themselves are legal to possess in your country. In any case, if we ship to your country, it means it’s allowed. And if there’s a risk that the parcel may be opened by your local customs, we use stealth shipping as the default option.
Indoors Or Outdoors?
Both indoor and outdoor cultivation can produce outstanding results. All you have to do is choose the right strain.
Basically, any ganja strain can be successfully cultivated indoors, although some may not realize their full potential. Choosing an outdoor strain can be trickier.
If you live in a region with a warm and sunny climate, like California, New England, or the Mediterranean, you can successfully grow practically all Indicas and most hybrids. Only the most exotic pure Sativas with a harvest time in November are not recommended. With less favorable climate conditions, your choice of an outdoor strain gets more and more limited.
For many regions like Northern Europe or Canada, it’s safer to choose a ‘fast version’ strain or an autoflower. However, modern autoflowering cannabis isn’t reserved for cold climates only. You can grow an auto strain anywhere and get amazing results, often on par with their photoperiod counterparts. Indoors, autos likewise perform well.
Indica, Sativa, Or Hybrid?
If you’ve ever smoked some brand name buds, you may already have your preferences. However, those new to the game can follow these basic guidelines:
- Indicas create a relaxed stoney feeling with a strong body buzz
- Sativas make you energetic and creative, and are felt more in the head
- Hybrids start with a rush of energy and end with deep body relaxation
Of course, it’s never as clear-cut as that, and if you browse our collection of marijuana seeds and read the descriptions, you may, for example, find an Indica strain that gives you mental clarity and focus or is ideal for partying. It often comes down to the specific cannabinoid and terpene makeup of a particular strain.
Sativas, Indicas, and hybrids also have very distinct growth patterns that you should take into account. Sativas are the tallest, Indicas the shortest, and hybrids fall somewhere in between (in this and every other respect). Sativas take the longest to flower, and they stretch a lot in the first weeks of the bloom stage. They also tend to have a more open plant structure, with a greater number of side branches. Indica buds are tighter and heavier, and thus have the biggest yield potential, while Sativa flowers are more airy, which better protects them against mold.
Feminized Or Regular?
Today’s breeders feminize most of their genetics because feminization technology is now very advanced and produces reliable results. Choosing a feminized strain means you won’t have to worry about males in your garden. Every plant will be female and each will bring you plenty of flowers to smoke.
Regular cannabis seeds, on the other hand, produce both male and female plants. This makes them great for breeding purposes, and they are also (arguably) more stable. Compared to a feminized strain, a regular one would be significantly cheaper.
Autoflowering Or Photoperiod?
Among the thousands of varieties for sale at Herbies, autoflowers are most in demand – and they have every right to be.
Autoflowers finish in as little as 2 months from seed, don’t take up much space indoors, and are very inconspicuous outdoors. With autos, you also don’t have to worry about the light cycle, as they will begin to flower automatically after a certain timeframe.
Photoperiod plants require more care but produce bigger yields, better flavor, and higher potency, although the difference between these two types is diminishing as the marijuana science progresses.
CBD Or High THC?
Most cannabis seeds we offer are rich in THC – the substance that makes you high. A THC-rich strain usually has a low level of another important cannabinoid: CBD. If you need the latter in greater quantities, you should look for a CBD-rich strain.
CBD doesn’t alter your state of mind but has many therapeutic uses. A high-CBD strain is mostly something that medical patients choose. It may have equal levels of both substances, or much more CBD than THC. You can even find strains that have up to 20% cannabidiol and almost no THC, and there are a few such strains among our cannabis seeds for sale.
What Strain Do You Want To Grow?
A good strain that’s worthy of your attention should suit you in terms of its flavor, effects, potency, and medical benefits. Be sure to choose a strain that you’ll be able to grow as well. An outdoor variety must be compatible with your climate. Indoors, it shouldn’t be too big for your space. And always choose a strain for your level of expertise. If you’re a novice cultivator, it’s probably a good idea to stick to autoflowering marijuana seeds.
How Much Do Weed Seeds Cost?
The cost of cannabis seeds depends on the strain and its producer. Some of our breeders chose to mass-produce their genetics and set a price of $2-3 per seed. Others position themselves as weed boutiques, with a price of $10-12 per seed or more.
Whatever price tier you choose, rest assured that all the genetics we offer are top-notch. The difference in price has more to do with the novelty of a strain, its rarity, and its popularity. So buy any strain that tickles your fancy but that doesn’t put a dent in your budget – the results will be spectacular every time!

Weed Seeds This Fall Means More Weeds Next Spring
Control annual weeds now in fallow areas to prevent seed set. Also, now is the time to start considering ways to manage perennials in small grain stubble.

Now is the time to think about controlling summer annual weeds prior to seed set in cropping situations where possible. Preventing seed production is important for driving down the weed seed bank and reducing the need for weed control inputs (i.e. herbicides). It is rather easy to prevent weed seed production following a cereal grain such as wheat, barley, or oats as well as some vegetable crops such as sweet corn or snap beans. Proper timing of the control practice is essential in preventing seed production. In general, below is a summary of estimated seed drop for various weed species:
- Giant foxtail: late August and peak seed rain usually occurs from late September through the month of October
- Yellow foxtail: early August and continues into late October
- Pigweed species: begin to produce mature seed by mid-August
- Lambsquarters and ragweed: generally, do not mature until the month of September
- Palmer amaranth or waterhemp: make sure to monitor them routinely over the next couple months and control any regrowth or new seedlings before they set seed. Palmer amaranth plants notoriously retain their seeds late into the summer and fall and thus seeds don’t necessarily fall to the ground upon maturity but are usually spread via the combine.
To prevent seed production, fields can be sprayed with an effective herbicide or mowed once or twice. Glyphosate is particularly effective at stopping grass growth and reproduction. The plant growth regulators (2,4-D and dicamba) would probably be a better choice for broadleaf weeds. With giant foxtail, even treating the field by mid-September can greatly reduce seed production. If seed heads are present, check suspect fields to determine how advanced flowering and seed rain are and time control practices accordingly. In alfalfa or pastures, if weeds are taller than the forage, consider running a brush-hog at a high setting to clip off the immature weed seed heads above the forage canopy. Taking the time to prevent seed production this year can make a big difference next year. About 80% of weeds next season come from weed seed this fall. For more information on weed emergence, weed seed set, and seedbank dynamics, refer to “A Practical Guide for Integrated Weed Management in Mid-Atlantic Grain Crops.”
In addition, many perennial broadleaves are evident in these same small grain stubble fields. The challenge with perennial weeds at this time of year is the fact they are still in the vegetative and reproductive phases. Therefore, most of the plant sugars are not being significantly transported to the roots and a herbicide application now will mostly only impact the top-growth. One consideration would be to mow those fields soon to prevent seed production and allow regrowth to occur. Then apply an effective systemic herbicide (ie, glyphosate, 2,4-D, dicamba) in late September or early October so the herbicide will be transported to the roots for more effective control.
